Sheila Cornall B.Mus GRSM ARMCM PGCE

Sheila received her early musical training in Lincoln, studying the piano and violin, singing in school and local choirs and playing in the LSO - (THE LSO!! - the LINCOLN Symphony Orchestra!).
After A levels, Sheila continued her studies at the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music, completing degree courses at both.  After training as a teacher, she taught at Altrincham Grammar School for girls before moving south and taking up a teaching post in Amersham.

Whilst raising her 3 children, Sheila became involved with local amateur music-making and conducted the Chorleywood Choral Society, Chesham Light Opera Company and the Misbourne Orchestra as well as coaching singers and instrumentalists and accompanying them at exams and festivals.

Returning to classroom teaching in the 1990's, Sheila taught at Chesham Prep School and St Clement Danes School and was then appointed Director of Music at Wycombe High School for Girls.  It was whilst at Wycombe High in 2012 that Sheila was made the Classic FM Secondary School Music Teacher of the Year.

Since retiring, Sheila has continued to maintain her musical interests as conductor of Slough Philharmonic Choru sand the Chess Valley Male Voice Choir.  She was also invited back to Wycombe High School to conduct Wycombe high Voices, formed a choir at Beaconsfield High School, and also became a member of staff at Chiltern Music Academy where she conducted the Philharmonic Orchestra.  She is on the committee of Chesham Arts Fetival where she has adjudicated the piano section of the festival and accompanied many students in instrumental and vocal classes.
