Thomas Jesty -
Treble Thomas Jesty (Treble) is this year’s BBC Radio 2 Chorister of the Year. He won the award last month in the annual competition open to choristers from choirs countrywide. He is currently Head Quirister at Winchester College and attends The Pilgrims’ School in the heart of the city within the grounds of the cathedral. In 1382 the statutes of William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, made provision for 16 quiristers to sing at the Chapel services of Winchester College and this is still maintained today. The quiristers regularly broadcast on BBC radio and have made several recordings. They also undertake frequent tours abroad.
In
addition to his singing he plays the violin and piano but he is also an
enthusiastic sportsman. He enjoys playing football, cricket and squash
but perhaps uniquely for a choirboy, is also keen on juggling with
rings, clubs, balls and pois. |
